(Click HERE for photos) Just a short while after the Hespeidim for Rav Shmuel Berenbaum ZATZAL were over at the Mirrer Yeshiva on Sunday night, a car travelling at approximately 90MPH lost control at the corner of the Yeshiva (Avenue R and Ocean Parkway), and wrapped itself around a tree – in an area which is usually highly populated.
Flatbush Hatzolah were on the scene in seconds treating the victim who was in traumatic arrest, and the FDNY and NYPD ESU were called to extricate the heavily entrapped victim from the vehicle. He was transported to Coney Island Hospital Hospital by Hatzolah – where he was pronounced dead a few minutes later.
The Misaskim command post, along with multiple volunteers, were dispatched to the scene to await orders from the NYPD AI Squad.
Besides for assisting the NYPD with their hi-tech command post and various equipment, the Chevra Kadisha services were not needed.

Words almost fail me…the utter stupidity, the waste of a life, the potential for many more deaths…I just don’t get it.

90 mph? what kind of car was he driving? A car that can speed up so quickly is a waste in NY.

What a horrible MVA! Baruch Hashen there were no injuries to innocent pedestrians! Rabbosai, look at these pictures & learn something! This is what a car can do! A vehicle is a weapon & a dangerous one too. We all have a real responsibility to take it easy and drive like a mentsch.

Y’all really had me wondering on this one but I guess a PERIOD should have been in the sentence instead of a COMMA.
