City Holds Emergency Training For Brooklyn Faith Leaders

ready NY.gifAs part of NYC’s emergency preparedness training, the Office of Emergency Management met with religious organizations in Brooklyn Wednesday about how to get the word out quickly in the event of an emergency.

Officials say the groups are already accomplished at doing personal outreach in the city’s communities.

“As faith-based leaders, we also see you as community leaders,” said Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler. “We understand that your roles go outside the walls of your churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques. That you are anchors for your community.”

Officials also plan to hold forums in the other four boroughs.

The speaker looked up and said: ‘what is this some kind of joke?’
