Israel’s satellite network photographed Iran more than 50,000 times during the approximately 40-day Operation Roaring Lion, according to a Jerusalem Post exclusive.

The figure means Israeli satellites captured well over 1,000 images of the Islamic Republic every day throughout the campaign, highlighting the unprecedented scale of Israel’s intelligence-gathering efforts.

According to the report, the number far surpasses the roughly 12,000 satellite images captured during the 12-day conflict with Iran in June 2025. Those images alone covered tens of millions of square kilometers of Iranian territory in both daylight and darkness. The latest operation is believed to have produced imagery covering well over 100 million square kilometers, and possibly several hundred million.

The report follows the IDF’s release of additional operational statistics from the campaign. According to the military, Israel dropped approximately 18,000 bombs over the course of 38 days—about five times the number used during the June 2025 war.

The strikes were carried out during roughly 1,000 attack waves involving about 8,500 sorties. Those missions resulted in approximately 10,800 strikes against some 4,000 targets, comprising around 6,700 individual target components, such as multiple buildings or military assets within a single base.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the pace of operations stabilized beginning in mid-March. During the early stages of the campaign, both Israel and the United States were reportedly striking about 1,000 targets or dropping roughly 1,000 bombs each day.

According to the report, U.S. Central Command announced on April 6 that it had struck more than 13,000 targets inside Iran. While Israeli and American target counts are not directly comparable due to differing definitions and mission assignments, the two allies coordinated operations throughout the campaign.

For much of the war, Israel concentrated its operations in western, northern, and central Iran, including Tehran, while U.S. forces primarily focused on southern Iran and key maritime areas.
