Russia’s chief rabbi Berel Lazar has congratulated Dimitri Medvedev on his victory in Sunday’s Russian presidential election.
“You won in the first round with a huge lead. It shows that people trust you, that your campaign promises to continue development, to protect human rights and freedoms, to assist in developing a civil society have won the hearts of many Russians,” the rabbi said in a statement, the Interfax agency reported.
“For me as a representative of one of Russia’s traditional religions particularly important was and is Medvedev’s commitment to ensure inter-ethnic and inter-religious peace in the country, the “free and dynamic development of religious communities and to stimulate spiritual growth within our society,” Lazar said.
“I understand very well that being president of a big country such as Russia is first of all a lot of hard work. At the same time, I am convinced that serving in the highest office, you will be able to fully use your potential, to prove yourself as an international politician and to ensure respect and recognition for our country from the entire civilized world,” the letter said.
The rabbi has declared that Russia’s Jews feel more confident and tranquil than ever thanks to the authorities support.

Is this the guy that there were rumors about that he is jewish
shturem has reported that medvedev’s mother is in fact jewish.
everybody in the west knows this is an undemocratic setup. I know its important for Jews and the authaurities to get on, as things could turn against us very fast. however this sucking up to a dictator by chabad russia makes me uneasy.
Our brothers in Soviet Russia are fortunate to be represented by a true Shtadlan, who knows how to deal effectively and intelligently with the powers-that-be.
Unfortunately, we Jews in the U.S. are represented by Reform Rabbis and atheists, who run the Federations and create ill-will for our community, through their support og immorality and Liberalism.
so the policies will remain the same:
1. still support islamic terrorism against jews
2. still send nuclear technology to iran
3. still arrest (jewish) “industrialists” in the oil (and other) business
note (unfortunately) all of the above is done by “pressuring” (officially orthodox) jews to do the above. for example, lukoil (yes, the same lukoil in the us) is the leading supplier of nukes to iran, even though it is “owned” by a jew who considers himself orthodox.
note too, that r lazar has many critics within chabad for the frierdicker rebbe’s seforim otzar still in the leningrad library, despite a russian court order they be turned over to 770 in the us.

What a farce. The whole world knows that the vote means nothing except that there was no other choice and people were bullied into voting. Chanufa is assur.
