VIDEO: Busy Toronto Mall Evacuated After Gunshots; No Injuries Reported

Gunshots prompted the evacuation of Toronto’s busiest mall on Thursday, though police said no injuries have been reported.

Toronto police tweeted that officers confirmed a shot was fired in or around Yorkdale Mall in the city’s north end and asked the public to avoid the area. Police said they were looking for multiple suspects, including two men in their 20s, and said one had a handgun.

The mall was on lockdown and nobody was being let in. Police said the incident happened in the east side of the mall and were looking for witnesses and video. Hundreds of people milled about outside the mall after the incident.

The Toronto Transit Commission said subway trains are not stopping at the mall.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said in a statement he’s relieved there are no reports of injuries from gunfire.
