PHOTOS: NYC Mayor De Blasio Campaigns With Assembly Candidate Simcha Eichenstein In Boro Park

In a strong show of support, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio took the time to join NYS Assembly candidate Simcha Eichenstein today on the campaign trail. The two walked along 13th Avenue in Boro Park to greet voters. Mayor de Blasio also gave Eichenstein a glowing endorsement.

“Simcha Eichenstein is the fighter the people of the 48th district need right now,” said Mayor de Blasio. “In City Hall, he proved over and over again to be an effective leader who understands what needs to be done to make life fairer in our city. In the State Assembly, I know he will continue that work. I’m proud to endorse his campaign and can’t wait for him to get to Albany.”

Eichenstein has spent nearly four years on the Mayor’s Intergovernmental Affairs team and State Legislative Affairs team in Albany, handling the city’s budgetary and legislative concerns. In addition to handling hundreds of pieces of legislation, Simcha interacted with members of both Houses while monitoring and tracking State legislation vital to the city.

Eichenstein dealt with issues impacting the community, as well as a demanding portfolio. This included serving as liaison to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), Department for the Aging (DFTA), Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), Human Resources Administration (HRA), Department of Homeless Services (DHS), NYC Health and Hospitals, Department of Youth and Community (DYCD), Thrive NYC, Department of Transportation (DOT), Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC), Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD).

“The experiences that I received under Mayor de Blasio’s leadership were invaluable,” said Simcha. “The Mayor gave me a great deal of responsibility and I will always be grateful for those opportunities and these last four years. More, I’ve learned from the Mayor’s governance and I am better for the advice he’s shared with me as I served on his staff. I am grateful for his warm endorsement and look forward to our continued relationship on behalf of our constituents and all New Yorkers.”
