UPDATED: More Swastikas Found In Williamsburg

nypd2.gif[UPDATE BELOW] For the second time this week, Swastikas have been found in the heart of Williamsburg. Shomrim are currently on the scene at 800 Bedford Avenue between Park Avenue and Flushing Avenue, investigating five swastikas found spray-painted on some homes. The NYPD’s 79th Pct are on the scene, and requesting the NYPD Hate Crime Unit to respond for the investigation.

The last incident involving Swastikas in Williamsburg occurred this past Sunday (reported HERE on YWN) – and less than an hour later another incident took place in Crown Heights (reported HERE on YWN).

Blasio.jpgUPDATE 4:00PM EST: Councilmember Bill de Blasio released the following statement following the news that for the second time this week, Swastikas have been found in Williamsburg. Shomrim are on the scene investigating five swastikas found spray-painted on several homes.

“I am disgusted that hate crimes such as these have become so prevalent throughout Brooklyn. These type of anti-semitic actions have no place in Brooklyn. It’s appalling that in 2008 we are still seeing this type of repulsive behavior. Intolerance whether it comes to the Jewish community or any other group is not acceptable.”

De Blasio added, “I will continue to work with the police to do everything possible to find out who is responsible for this and put an end to this disturbing pattern of hateful acts.”
