Hikind Heads on “Kippa Solidarity Trip” to Germany

In light of recent events and pronouncements coming from Germany that Jews should consider not wearing a kippah or being visibly Jewish, Dov Hikind has left NY on a short trip to Frankfurt “simply to show solidarity with the Jews of Germany by proudly wearing my kippah and distributing some to others”.

In a statement to YWN, Hikind said “Let the message be clear: when Jews are told they can’t be visibly Jewish in a supposedly democratic country the only acceptable response is to be proudly, visibly Jewish. Germany can tell its Jews they are no longer welcome, but it can’t have it both ways by claiming to be a tolerant home for Jews while also tolerating antisemitism to a level where living life as Jew is unbearable.

I will be meeting with Jewish community members and officials, but my only goal is to be present on the ground to push back against an antisemitism that sent my parent’s families to be gassed at death camps the last time it went unchecked. “Never Again” means we will not cower in fear, but will rather double-down on being even more visibly, proudly Jewish.”

  1. I wish we can be reassured that our frum politicians are consulting with das torah- Reb Dov, who did you consult with before crusading onto Germany? Is there no better way for a nice frum yid to spend his time? Who do you consult with before making statements? Scary question , but do any of our American frum politicians consult with das torah or do they rely on impulse and what their boich tells them?
