A 2-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a subway in Manhattan on Wednesday night.
The toddler was hit by an uptown No. 2 train during rush hour at the Fulton Street station after he slipped away from his mother on the platform, the New York Daily News reported.
New York police officers freed the child from underneath the train and rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It is unclear if the child was hit when he was pulled between the platform and the moving train or when fell onto the tracks.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority posted on Twitter shortly after, announcing a number of train delays. Some trains were in the process of be rerouted.
Officials have not released the name of the child or his mother.
