10 Reasons You Should Buy a t8 LED Tube Light In 2021

“LEDs are the lights of the future.”

Using CFL tube lights and bulbs made of glass to switch to LED tube lights and bulbs, a lot has changed in the lighting universe. T8 LED tube light bulb  is of roughly 1 inch in diameter LED tube varying in length with a bi-pin or single-pin base. These lights are commonly used in areas with high ceilings, troffers and general lighting use. They are majorly used in places like offices, high-footfall areas, etc. LED technology, which we now find in light bulbs and tube lights, is energy-efficient, long-lasting, and cost-saving. It is good for the environment that we switch to LED lighting and stop using others like CFL.

If you’re considering switching to T8 or are not yet convinced as to why you should make the switch, here are top 10 reasons why you should buy a T8 LED tube light:

  1. Energy-efficient: T8 tube lights are more efficient when compared to its CFL counterpart. They use up to 60% less wattage and therefore are eco-friendly too. T8 is brighter, emits more light and less heat. Unlike a CFL, the tube light doesn’t heat up when switched on for long hours.

  2. Cost-saving: Quite simply, better the energy-efficiency, less the electricity consumption. As mentioned above, LEDs use 60% less wattage to light a room, which means 60% more savings in your pocket. The price of the T8 LED is also quite cheap. Due to the adoption and advancement of LED technology, these products’ prices have driven down and become more affordable.

  3. Mercury-free: We all know the hazards of mercury and lead. One of the biggest disadvantages for CFLs, halogens and incandescent lamps was that they contain hazardous materials. With the entry of LED/T8 lighting, we don’t have to worry about any hazardous element. This is the reason why LEDs are called ‘green lighting solutions’ or eco-friendly lights.

  4. Damage-free: T8 LEDs are made out of biodegradable, high-quality plastics—very durable, long-lasting and fewer chances of breakage. If you ever drop a T8 tube light by mistake, it won’t break, it is damage free! This should be a great motivator for switching from CFLs, halogens made out of glass and prone to breakage and damage. It becomes very risky for people around if a CFL breaks as the broken glass can hurt you and cause injury. T8 is hassle-free, long-lasting, compact, light-weight and durable.

  5. Supports Dimming: Want to set a romantic mood or movie-night mood or reading mood? LED is your answer. Yes, LEDs are easy to dim. You can either brighten or sombre the lights in a space. This wasn’t the case with the existing options of fluorescents.

  6. More colourful options: Traditionally, the lighting methods available required many colour filters to achieve a certain hue. An LED light fixture can illuminate in numerous colours. It doesn’t need external painting or filters to emit colourful light. This makes T8 LED an attractive option to buy. Imagine lighting up your space in a range of colours, use these settings to focus on certain areas of your space.

  7. Directional light: LEDs are directional in use. This means that they are a sort of focussed lighting and are easy to point in any direction. Because of this feature, they also blend well with your space’s decor and style. You also don’t need to waste additional money on beams, focus or reflectors. You end up lighting areas which need it the most and avoid useless lighting spaces.

  8. Longer life: A T8 tube light or an LED bulb doesn’t have a filament which rules out breakage or burn-out. This means that an LED fixture can have a life expectancy of more than ten years! This is easily the topmost reason why you should switch to a T8 fixture. The life of a T8 is double that of  CFL lights. They don’t heat-up, you will be saved from burnt fingers while changing a filament bulb or CFL tube lights. T8 tube lights are made out of plastic which makes them extremely light-weight and less fragile. A T8 LED ensures durability, light-weight, easy to handle and compact.

  9. Limited access to electricity: As mentioned above, an LED fixture doesn’t require too much wattage to illuminate fully. Hence, T8 are ideal for places with a limited or irregular supply of electricity. Since these fixtures don’t use up a lot of energy, houses with solar power/hydroelectric power and batteries can also efficiently use these. Due to this technology, many remote areas and villages have gotten access to light.

  10. Instant-on/off system: Do you remember those tube-lights used to flicker for 4-5 seconds before switching on completely? The seller may have notified you that the more you turn on/off the fluorescent lights (CFLs), the lesser its life gets. Now we don’t have to worry as T8 LEDs don’t have these problems at all. They don’t flicker or delay when turned on and off.

With all the above points in mind, it is better to switch to LEDs for better quality illumination or saving money and reduce our carbon footprint. Its time to ditch your regular CFL and opt for T8 LED!
