Count Sfiras HaOmer in the Manner Rav Aharon Kotler zatzal Recommended

by Rabbi Yair Hoffman for

During the seven weeks of the Omer, Klal Yisroel underwent a remarkable transformation. Between exiting Mitzrayim on Pesach to Shavuos, when we received the Torah, we went from the lowest spiritual level to the loftiest ever – becoming the Dor De’ah – the greatest generation that ever lived.

Rav Aharon Kotler zt”l states (MRA Vol. III p. 13) that during the period of Sfiras HaOmer – we too can orchestrate within ourselves a similar transformation. He writes, following the path of the great Maharal of Prague, that each day of the Omer correlates to one of the 48 ways in which Torah is acquired (Pirkei Avos 6:6). Below is a sfira calendar with the 48 methods of acquiring Torah – along with a short explanation.

Feel free to download it, print it, and use it to enhance your sfiras haomer growth this year.

A Clear Case of Pidyon Shvuyim..There is an incarcerated frum individual from the Five Towns/Far Rockaway community who has struggled with addictions and has made some poor choices. He is facing several years in jail and is currently in Riker’s Island. Boruch Hashem, the judge will allow a rehab program. Insurance cannot cover it. Thus far we have raised $12000 and change.   It is a program where a frum person can succeed. Unfortunately, the arrangement can easily be nixed unless by Monday, we have 3 to 4 months of funds committed to pay for the rehab.

This Pidyon shvuyim has the endorsement of Rabbi Eitan Feiner shlita and Rabbi Yair Hoffman.  This author believes that this a clear case of TRUE PIDYON SHVUYIM.  A well- internationally renowned Posaik agreed to this and had donated several thousand dollars himself.

In addition the following was added to this very important inyan..

My good friend, R’ Yair Hoffman, can be relied upon for his research in this matter Rav Elya Brudny (shlita)
