AUDIO: Rep Mike Lawler Endorses Nachman Caller in State Senate Race

Congressman Mike Lawler, a Republican from Rockland County, has endorsed Nachman Caller in Tuesday’s special election for the New York State Senate.

“Our communities need Nachman in Albany to fight for Brooklyn, support our schools, and help keep our streets safe,” Lawler said.

Lawler’s endorsement highlights the importance of the race, as Republicans seek to flip a seat in a district that overwhelmingly supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

The 22nd Senate District includes the frum neighborhoods of Borough Park, Midwood, Flatbush, and Marine Park.

Caller, a respected real estate attorney and longtime community advocate, has made affordable housing a key campaign issue and pledged to be a strong voice in Albany defending the community’s yeshivas and religious liberties.

In 2014, amid a housing crisis, Caller proposed building affordable housing on the unused train tracks in the middle of the neighborhood. While people laughed and said it was a dream, he worked behind the scenes to acquire air rights and secure zoning changes. He was also involved behind the scenes in Albany, helping write and draft important legislation that has benefited many families and mosdos.

Lawler, whose congressional district includes a large Orthodox Jewish population, emphasized the importance of electing someone with deep community roots and a proven track record. A win for Caller would bring Republicans closer to challenging the Democratic majority in the State Senate, potentially shifting the legislative balance on key issues.

“Nachman is a Republican who will keep our streets safe, fight for our schools, and stop Governor Hochul and the radical liberal politicians in Albany,” Lawler said in a robocall that will be sent to voters in the district.

The special election is Tuesday. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. As past elections have shown, every vote matters.
