An Oregon man who weaponized antisemitic hate to terrorize Jewish hospitals on Long Island has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after admitting to a months-long spree of hoax bomb threats—while livestreaming the panic in real time.
Domagoj Patkovic, 31, of Portland, coldly phoned in a series of bomb threats in 2021 to hospitals affiliated with Northwell Health, including the Long Island Jewish Valley Stream hospital. Disguising his identity behind the alias “Abrahimavich,” Patkovic falsely claimed to have planted military-grade explosives—specifically C-4—in maintenance closets across several Jewish healthcare facilities.
Federal prosecutors said the threats forced evacuations, lockdowns, and large-scale police responses, consuming critical emergency resources and sowing chaos among hospital staff and patients.
Patkovic turned his hate crimes into a spectacle. He broadcast the threats on Discord, a social media platform increasingly associated with extremist groups, as dozens watched the unfolding terror live. In at least one incident, Patkovic even flipped the camera to reveal his own face—implicating himself.
When a 911 operator called him back, Patkovic answered while still livestreaming, doubling down on his threat and confirming his identity. Prosecutors say he later admitted to participating in coordinated “swatting” campaigns and was also linked to an image of himself giving a Nazi salute over an unconscious man’s body in an unrelated incident.
Patkovic was arrested in August 2023 and charged in a sweeping 23-count federal indictment. He pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to issue bomb threats and conveying false information regarding explosives.
“[Patkovic] endangered patients and diverted precious law-enforcement resources to advance his hateful agenda against people of the Jewish faith,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. “His actions fed a rising tide of antisemitism in America.”
No explosives were ever discovered in any of the hospitals. A federal judge has now sentenced Patkovic to five years in prison.
