ANOTHER JEW: Ron Klain Accepts Job as Biden Chief Of Staff

klain.jpgRonald A. Klain, former chief of staff and counselor to Vice President Al Gore, has accepted an offer to be chief of staff to Vice President-elect Joe Biden, Democratic officials said.

The position will put Klain, a seasoned political hand, at the heart of West Wing activity.

Biden, who has kept a low profile since Election Day, will head to the vice president’s official residence at the Naval Observatory at 5:15 p.m. Thursday for a private meeting with Vice President Cheney. Biden and his wife, Jill, will also receive a tour of the residence from Cheney and his wife, Lynne.

The appointment enhances the continuity between the two Democratic administrations. Veterans of the Clinton-Gore White House have been given top jobs in the Obama-Biden transition.

Biden decided some time ago to offer Klain the job, but Klain’s friends weren’t sure he would take it. But he accepted the offer Wednesday afternoon, the officials said.

According to the JTA, he becomes the second Jewish Clinton administration veteran to serve in a top executive position for President-elect Barack Obama. U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) will serve as White House chief of staff.

Additionally, they will be joined by David Axelrod who was appointed as Senior Advisor to Obama.

From Klain’s official biography: “Prior to his appointment to the White House, Klain was the staff director for the Senate Democratic Leadership Committees, the chief of staff for Attorney General Janet Reno, associate counsel to President Clinton, and chief counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Judiciary. …

“Klain graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University, and he obtained his juris doctor magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review, winner of the Sears Prize, and a research assistant to Professor Laurence Tribe. For the 1987-1989 Supreme Court terms, Klain served as law clerk to Justice Byron R. White.”

  1. Just what we need, some Court Jews who should have been discarded for good when the Clintons left office. He was the chief of staff for Janet Reno? Whoa – hold on to your seats, folks.

  2. This is not a good sign!

Through out our Golus when ever Jews got to high places the trouble started.

The list is too long, but check up our history and you will find it to be the truth.

    Scary Times

  3. #5 y2r….go back to sleep..there were jewish advisors in all courts thruout all generations checkout on our history and youll find the real truth…and quite a few were tzaddikim ,gedoilay hador..(eg;rabbainu shmuel hanagid,)

  4. SO WHAT!! A JEW? Does he belioeve in Torah?Put on tefillin?Keep kosher or Shabbos? What good are self-hating secular Jews? They just make Jews,(not ‘K’lal Yisroel) look bad in the eyes of the anti-semites. Our non-frum Jews are more danderous to us than respectable goyim. Are we som childish and naive to think that when an officialmpicks a Jew,he’s going to like us? This is America! This is politics. It is window-dressing only. Our officials do not have the good of the frum,Torah or yeshiva community at heart.

  5. I’d like to offer my opinion from a little island across the pond.
In the most Israel-friendly government we had here under Tony Blair, there was NOT ONE JEW in a senior position. Unfortunately, a Jew in government has to go out of his way to prove he is not biased towards Israel.
So, is this good news? Time will tell…

  6. Some of you are ridiculous. If this was the McCain presidency, you would be very happy. Stop with the gaiva that your candidation lost and that our new president-elect may not turn out to be the monster you need him to be.

The thing is this: No one knew too much about Obama. The conservatives pasted their slander over him influencing opinion and the liberals thought he was going to be a dove. I am guessing he will turn out to be someone OTHER than what any of us expect. I am hoping he is young enough and not jaded enough to actually care about doing a good job. He certainly has been successful in his academic and family endeavors. Let’s see how he does even though after Bush, anyone would seem like a breath of fresh air.
