Agriprocessors HR Worker Pleads Guilty

rubashkin.gifA former human resources manager at Agriprocessors Inc. pleaded guilty today to a charge that she helped harbor illegal immigrant workers at the kosher meat plant.

Elizabeth Billmeyer, 48, was convicted of one count of conspiracy to harbor undocumented aliens for profit and one count of knowingly accepting false resident alien cards.

Prosecutors alleged in court papers last month that Billmeyer, of Postville, helped the illegal workers get jobs at the plant even though she knew they had come to the United States illegally.

Billmeyer remains free on bond until her sentencing, which has not yet been set. She faces a maximum 20-year prison sentence, a $500,000 fine, six years of probation and other assorted court fees.

Agriprocessors was the site of a major immigration raid in May that led to the arrest of 389 plant workers. The plant has struggled since, and sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year against hundreds of businesses and creditors.

  1. It doesn’t look like she was convicted of this for personal profit.

Prosecutors allied with left wing anti-orthodox Jews destroyed a business that employed many people.

  2. Reading posts defending orthodox owned business crimes ad nauseum gets incredibly tiring. There was a laundry list of crimes committed by AgriProcessors executives, as has been documented and will most likely be proven in court. If not for a legal process that must be followed, in the court of public opinion the truth is already beyond dispute. How many non-Jews will from now forward equate kosher food with criminality? This is a chillul Hashem of colossal proportions.
