NY Rep. King Blasted Over Muslim Remarks

pk.jpgA New York congressman says he stands by remarks that offended Muslim Americans.

Long Island Rep. Peter King claimed Friday that few Muslim Americans come forward to cooperate with law enforcers.

According to King, there’s never been a Department of Homeland Security report that says, “look out for mosques” or “look out for Islamic terrorists in our country.”

The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations calls King’s comments “bigoted.” It’s urging other politicians to repudiate them.

King is the ranking Republican on the Homeland Security Committee.

He plans to decide on a Senate run by the end of the summer.

Former Sen. Alfonse D’Amato says he shares King’s opinion about Muslims and law enforcement, but thinks he “probably” made a political misstep.

  1. Yet Farsi speaking Jews are not wanted as translators by the FBI because they’re not trusted. The same FBI who after 9/11 discovered that the highest concentration of arabs in any American city was – DEAL, NJ! Mr King should be praised.

  2. that is the main problem today. when a politician tells the truth in plain simple terms everybody gets upset.
BY THE WAY , REPESENITIVE KING HAPPENS TO BE RIGHT , BUT THEN AGAIN WHY SHOULD WE CARE , SINCE WE HAVE PEOPLE LIKE DOV HEIKAND TELLING TO BE NICE TO SECRATARY OF STATE CLINTON WHEN SHE WAS OUR NEW YORK STATE SENETOR AND WERE THAT HAS GOTTEN US.

  3. I beg to disagree with Al D’Amato. I do not think that King made a political misstep. On the contrary, my respect for King keeps growing. I believe it is high time that we have a politician who says it like it is. What a breath of fresh air to have a politician say what is true and let the chips fall where they may.

I plan on calling Mr. King to thank him and I hope many of my fellow yeshivaworld commentators would do the same.

G-d Bless you Peter King. Do not step down.
