PHOTOS: Private Reception in Support of Mark Green


64.jpgClick HERE for photos: A prominent group of communal, business and religious leaders gathered together in  support of Mark Green’s candidacy for Public Advocate of New York City. The primary election takes place on Tuesday, September 13, 2009. The office of Public Advocate is the second highest elective office after Mayor.

Ezra Friedlander, CEO of The Friedlander Group welcomed everyone and introduced Mark Green by emphasizing Mark Green’s determination to enhance the quality of life for ordinary New Yorkers who rely on the Public Advocate’s to look out for their interests and that is Mark Green’s motivation for running for the same office he held from 1994 thru 2001. “I cannot impress upon the community how helpful Mark Green was to the Jewish community throughout his public career going back thirty years on issues ranging from fighting the Arab boycott to protecting consumers and helping Jewish organizations through the maze of city bureaucracy” said Ezra Friedlander in his remarks.

Steve Green brother of Mark and chairman of SL Green, the largest owner of Commerce real estate in New York City gave a fascinating overview on the city’s economy from the perspective of a major real estate executive.

-In conclusion Mark Green gave a passionate speech outlining his vision for the office of Public Advocate and the importance of this office to the average New Yorker who need an ombudsman to ensure that city government properly serves its citizens.

  1. “…chairman of SL Green, the largest owner of Commerce real estate in New York City…” should read “commercial real estate”.

    Also, wasn’t Simcha Felder recently involved in trying to dismantle the Public Advocate post? If so, it appears that Simcha does not enjoy the support of the community in this matter if there are high profile VIP’s such as Ezra Friedlander, CEO of The Friedlander Group, hosting events for Mark Green.
