PHOTOS: Gesher Organization & Toronto Hatzolah Meet With 25 NYS Law Enforcement Organizations

33.jpg[Click HERE for photos] A meeting was held last week at the New York State Police Troop A Headquarters under the leadership of Major Christopher Cummings to ensure smooth cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the Jewish communities in Northern NY State & Toronto.

The meeting was arranged by Rabbi Bernard Freilich, and consisted of more than 25 various law enforcement agencies, including: the NYSP, NYS Thruway Authority, Essex County Sheriff, Erie County Sheriff, Hatzolah of Toronto, and most notably the “Gesher” Organization of Toronto.

Law enforcement officials were introduced to many important Jewish laws and customs such as if a Jewish person is deceased R”L.

The Toronto Chevra Kaddisha was at the meeting as well as Rabbi Taub of Buffalo NY, who worked hand-in-hand with the Misaskim organization at the tragic plane crash in the winter of 2009.

The Gesher Organization was started approximately 2 years ago in Toronto, and deals with many different emergency situations in the community. If an incident occurs in the area of the Canada/New York border, the Gesher Organization is always ready to assist.

NYSP Troop A patrols the following counties situated on the border of Canada: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans & Wyoming.

  1. Picture #2 is classic. The expression on every single face, bar none, is one of extreme boredom! 🙂 🙂 🙂

On a serious note, as someone who drives to Toronto 4-5 times a year, I am grateful for the meeting and increased cooperation.
