Leonia, NJ – A bus carrying 37 children from the summer program at Congregation Sons of Israel on Grand Avenue rolled down back down the driveway while attempting to exit and crashed into the synagogue, injuring 9, The Record (NJ) reports.
The injured were taken to area hospital. The injuries were not believed to be serious. The children in the summer program are ages 5 to 11.
According to the Associated Press, the children on board were on their way to a bowling trip from the synagogue’s summer camp program when the bus somehow struck the building. It appears the bus may have been in reverse when the driver thought it was in drive.
