The infamous Arbeit Macht Frei sign over the entrance of the Auschwitz deal camp that was stolen has been recovered as has been reported. According to Israel Radio reports quoting Polish news agencies, the thieves were planning to smuggle the sign to Sweden on board a ferry. The reports are unclear regarding if the Swedish man who was the intended recipient was the man behind the theft or a middleman.
Authorities in Poland report that the five men in custody are being questioned, with Polish Radio reporting the sign was already cut into three. The men in custody face a 10-year prison term if convicted.
The reports from Poland indicate the motivation for the theft was “political” and not anti-Semitic. There are also reports that they were motivated by financial gain, yet no one is explaining just how they were going to profit from the theft of the sign, which they sliced into three.

You havn’t explained why it is political.
The “politcal” aspect of this crime cannot be anything but entwined with antisemitism.
