Lakewood: Suspicious Fire In Yeshiva Keter Torah

A fire that broke out just after 8 p.m. Shabbos at the Keter Torah School on 613 Apollo Drive here has left a section of the building damaged.

“Parts of the school cannot be used at this time,” said Detective Sgt. John Stillwell of the Lakewood Police Department.

The fire, which Stillwell has called “suspicious” is being investigated by the Lakewood Police Department, Ocean County Fire Marshall, Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Sherriff’s Department Criminalistic Investigation Unit.

The building was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.

Lakewood Mayor Steven Langert believes the fire was an act of hate and called it “despicable and unfortunate. Hate should have no place in our society.”
