PHOTOS: Lupoliansky Supporters Come Out to Meet Him

[PHOTO LINK BELOW] A visibly emotion former Jerusalem mayor, Uri Lupoliansky, was released from jail on Sunday, remanded to house arrest. When he arrived at his Jerusalem home hundreds of members of the chareidi community were on hand to greet him in a showing of solidarity and support.

When he arrived in Sanhedria Murchevet at about 3:00pm, dozens of yeshiva bochrim were on hand to greet him with song, seeking to lift his spirits following a difficult ordeal, which included a shabbos in jail.

The Rishon L’Tzion Magistrate’s Court released the former mayor on NIS 100,000 bail, remanding him to house arrest for ten days. Lupoliansky was also informed he may not leave the country for 180 days, and he was compelled to turn in his passport as part of the release agreement.

  1. Long Live those accused of Corruption!

We fight against Loshon Hora by treating the accused as heroes (as long as the accused are Chareidim)

  2. I’m still learning but it seems from what I can understand that we as a people are supposed to support our fellow brothers even if they err in their ways. My only question is if there are any distinctions (halachically, of course) – does the same apply whether it is a “minor” white collar crime or something even as violent as murder?

  3. We do not support wrong doing, or law breaking.

However, R’Uri is different. He didn’t do anything.
This country is great at Chardei scandal, just look at the accusations! 3 million shek? Thats nothing, why break the law for that?? And it was wired through his sons kollel?!? Thats just weird!!
And to a man who has dedicated his life to helping people. Thats what happens when you get involved in Israeli politics. There are NO rules here. Someone in America or who hasnt lived here for many years, just won’t get it…
