WSJ: NYPD Criticizes PAPD’s Failure To Stop Confessed Muslim Subway Bomber

Tensions are reportedly rising between the Port Authority Police and the New York City Police Department over the the traffic stop of confessed terrorist Najibullah Zazi.

Zazi, a former Queens resident, was stopped by Port Authority police at the George Washington Bridge back in September but was allowed to continue into the city with two pounds of explosive materials hidden in his car.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the NYPD calls the failure of the Port Authority Police to find the explosives a potentially catastrophic error.

Zazi admitted the traffic stop made him suspicious and he disposed of the materials once he got into the city.

A Port Authority Officer told the Journal the agency did not have a search warrant.

Spokesmen for the Port Authority and the FBI declined comment.

Zazi pleaded guilty to conspiring to use weapons of mass destruction.

His sentencing is expected in late June.
