FL: Small Plane Crashes Into Home


Clearwater, FL – Pinellas County EMS have confirmed to WireUpdate that a small plane has crashed into a Clearwater home on Sunday. The crash occurred around 10 A.M at 416 Patricia Avenue.

A news report from BayNews9.com says there is at least one survivor who is described as a 57-year-old that was seen walking around at the crash site. He was transported to the Bayfront Medical Center.

Witnesses described seeing flames and smoke coming from the scene of the crash. According to one unconfirmed report nearby homes were also damaged as the jet fuel burned off. Emergency crews are still working the scene.

News 13 reported the following:

Investigators said the Piper PA-46 aircraft with Mexican registry crashed around 10 a.m. Sunday after departing from nearby Clearwater Air Park.

Pinellas County emergency medical officials and Clearwater police said a 57-year-old man was transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

His condition was not immediately released, but according to reports, the man was one of the plane’s occupants, and was seen walking around the crash site.

The plane appeared to have possibly flown into some power lines, skidded over the house and landed in the backyard.

The crash also started a fire in the front yard of the property.

Several dozen emergency responded to the plane crash.

The Red Cross said they were called to help two displaced families
