Central District police are seeking suspects in a robbery during which Hod Hasharon jewelry store owner Yehuda Weiselberg, 42, was shot and killed.

An initial investigation into the crime indicates that Weiselberg, a father of three, was opening the store on Ramatayim St. – which is located only meters from the family’s home – when he encountered two masked robbers. He pursued them, and they shot, seriously wounding him.

Hod Hasharon Mayor Hai Adiv, visiting the crime scene, said that the Weiselbergs were a family with deep roots, third generation in Israel, and called Yehuda “the salt of the earth.” He adding that the municipality would soon be setting up 300 security cameras throughout the city.
