Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Lashes Defense Secretary Leon Panetta

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has a warning for Leon Panetta: Unless you can can see into the future, stop making predictions about my country.

Asked on ABC News about the defense secretary’s recent prediction that the revolutions sweeping several in the Middle East will eventually hit Iran, the country’s president shot back, “Does he have any plans for any interference in Iran or does he see foresee the future?”

He added, “If he has a plan, let him announce it so that we’ll learn it as well. But if he’s foreseeing the future, he should let us know how he’s doing it.”

Ahmadinejad, who is in New York City this week for the United Nations summit, also took a defiantly defensive stance on Iran’s view of the United States.

“I have no fear. We don’t have any fear of the U.S. Why should we fear the U.S.?” he said on Tuesday, charging, “The U.S. has been against us for 50 to 60 years.”

Accusing the U.S. of having “used any power it had against us,” the Iranian president insisted that if Panetta is “just talking,” his comments are “not worth being analyzed.”

But if the defense chief announces a plan to interfere with his country, the Iranian president warned that he would be “making a mistake and the response will be very resolute.”

Panetta said earlier this month that it was just “a matter of time” before the reform movement in the Arab Spring spread to Iran.

“I think we saw in evidence of that in the last election in Iran that there was a movement within Iran that raised those very same concerns that we’re seeing elsewhere,” the former CIA director said. “And I think in many ways, it’s a matter of time before that kind of change and reform and revolution occurs in Iran as well.”

  1. I dont think he will end up swinging from a tree, I think his country will have a huge mushroom cloud over it sooner than later. mark my words. They will be history very soon.

  2. Not happening so fast in Iran. Iran is more evil than Syria. They will crush any rebellion with overpowering force. Throw tons of people into jail to never see the light of day again. Torture a few to make an example… The only way for anyone to attempt to overthrow the Iranian regime is if its a formidable force (tens of thousands) and they are well stocked by the USA with advanced weapons and ammunition.
