French President Nicolas Sarkozy is trying to smooth over relations with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu after he was caught in an open-mic incident referring to Netanyahu as a liar as was reported by YWN-ISRAEL. Sarkozy made his remarks in what he believed was a closed meeting with US President Barak Obama at the G20 summit.
Sarkozy initiated the conversation, telling the US president I cannot stand him. He is a liar, in reference to the Israeli leader, to which the US president responded Youve had enough but I have to deal with him every day!
According to a Yediot Achronot report, the French leader sent a letter to the prime minister addressing the recently released IAEA report on Irans nuclear program, promising to stand at Israels side and favor unprecedentedly harsh sanctions against Tehran.
