Jewish Attacker At Hizme Checkpoint Had History Of Mental Illness; Worked In Mir Yerushalayim

Police are now reporting that the 19-year-old Jewish male who was shot trying to perpetrate a stabbing against soldiers at the Hizme Checkpoint in Jerusalem has a history of mental illness. The young man was not accepted in the IDF and police are checking into his background in an effort to understand what motivated his actions.

A friend of the attacker told Ynet that he was a regular type of guy and he is not aware he had excessive problems.

Additionally, the man was employed by Mir Yerushalyim. A sign (attached here) hanging in the Mir announced the mans Levaya.

The attacker was shot dead by security forces on the scene before any of the intended victims could be harmed. The investigation into the attempted attack continues.
