Bill Clinton is one of President Obamas highest profile political supporters and said in New York Monday that Romney as president would be “calamitous for our country and the world.”
But in an interview with CNN Thursday, Clinton talked up Romneys business credentials by saying the former Bain Capital exec had a sterling business career.
This mixed message is indicative of Clintons support for Wall Street during his own presidency and how he is closer to them than Obama, according to Politicos Roger Simon.
The Obama campaign has been attacking Romneys record as a job creator and business manager. According to Simon, Clinton being Clinton in front of the cameras hurts Obamas campaign, and he is best used as a strategic fundraiser.
