Deputy Prime Minister Rav Eli Yishai arrived at the Bnei Brak home of HaRosh Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita on Thursday 5 Elul 5772 for a meeting. Yishai briefed the gadol hador on a number of issues, including the elections of a chief rabbi of Yerushalayim. A date for this election is expected to be announced in the coming week, as YWN-ISRAEL reported.

Kikar Shabbat reports Rav Shteinman expressed concerns over the possible election of a “Zionist” chief rabbi in Yerushalayim. It appears Yishai will be arranging a meeting between Rav Shteinman and Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita.
