Months after suffering a stroke, Rav Yisroel Meir Katz z”l, 66, was niftar on Shavuos. The niftar was among the first “הפעילים “ and a son of former MK Rav Yaakov Katz z”l. The levaya takes place today, isru chag Shavuos 5773, beginning at the Seret Vishnitz Beis Medrash in Haifa at noon.
The family suffered a tragedy a number of years ago when a son fell during a hike and was killed. The niftar suffered a stroke about two months ago and was admitted into Bnei Tzion Hospital.
The rav was a Boyaner chossid who davened in the Seret Vishnitz Beis Medrash on a regular basis. He was credited with succeeding in bringing many lost neshomos back to a life of adherence to Torah and Mitzvos.
