Maran R’ Shteinman: Be Mechazeik in Learning this Elul

shtDelivering words of chizuk earlier this week to talmidim in the Gaon Yaakov Yeshiva, HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita spoke of the need of increasing and strengthening our limud Torah in Elul, especially this year in light of the “harsh gezeiros”.

“We must hope that each and every talmid will be mechazeik his learning this Elul for if there is no Torah there is no Yirah and if there is no Yirah there is no Torah”.

The rav then turned his attention to the gezeiros planned for the bnei yeshivos by the current government. “The haters of religion plan many more gezeiros on Am Yisrael, with an emphasis on bnei yeshivos R”L and we need a great measure of Rachmei Shomayim. We must continue limud and increase the learning as much as possible this Elul.”

  1. The Chofetz Chaim once commented in Parshas Shoftim that the Yeitza Hora makes a lot of noise to convince us and scare us. In reality, that noise today is the billions of dollars poured into lobbying, and marketing non-Torah ideas and values into “Torah-style” values.

Based on many posts on YWN, it’s quite obvious that many readers are buying what they are selling. Spending billions of dollars can convince anyone of anything. It’s a classic spin-marketing ploy.

It’s a breath of fresh air to hear Maran Shteinman’s Torah words and advice.

I doven that Yidden start ingesting them, rather than ingesting the slick modern media smog, spewed by. So called experts, journalists, and bloggers, that has caused the spiritual sell -out of so many yiddish neshamas.

  2. Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, in a shiur, said that when laining zechiras Amaleik in this week’s parsha, Ki Seitzei, one is to think of Amaleik in our generation, “and that is Yair Lapid.”

  3. #2***** Since when does Amalek mean another Jew? Show me one proof from the Torah . Did he say the name outright or is that your guess?

Something doesn’t add up. 6 years ago R’ Shteinman came to Brooklyn and busloads of chassidic boys were bused in to the park where he was speaking in BP.They demonstrated against him because they thought he wasn’t ant-Tzioni enough. Your hair would’ve stood up on your head to hear the names they called him and the signs they carried.
Now, almost every day he says things against the governmant in very harsh words. Is he bending over backwards to show he’s a faithful anti-Tzioni because the askanim, mahchers and various and sundry shleppers are whispering something in his ear?
