Transportation Ministry Wants more Cabs to Accommodate Disabled People

monit.jpgTransportation Ministry officials announce that any taxi driver buying a vehicle that can accommodate handicapped travelers will receive a 50% reduction in the licensing fee and will only have to pay 120,000 NIS instead of 240,000 NIS.

The qualifications include a vehicle capable of accommodating a wheelchair, a door that is at least 110cm (43 inches) wide, and a specific type of door handles.

Taxi drivers are not pleased with the decision to issue 500 addition taxi licenses for drivers willing to buy a vehicle that meets the standards above.
