Gov. Cuomo Gives de Blasio Heads Up Of Immediately Dealing With Snowstorm

The ink has not yet dried on reporting Mayor de Blasio’s ceremonial inauguration today, before Governor Cuomo sounded the alarm about the severe snow storms headed for New York Thursday.

“I was just at the mayor’s inauguration, which I thought went very well. But it was cold at the inauguration so mother nature let the new mayor know right away who was in charge,” Mr. Cuomo told reporters on a conference call Wednesday afternoon.

The governor said he hasn’t spoken to the new mayor directly about the storm, but said officials for the state and city are in contact.

“I haven’t spoken to the mayor about it… But, my people and the appropriate officials have been speaking with their colleagues in New York City all day,” Cuomo said.

“This is a serious situation,” he added. “People should stay informed. We’ve learned the hard way in New York that mother nature is nothing to be trifled with and we are looking at a serious storm situation.”

The Blizzard Warning is in effect only for Nassau and Suffolk counties from 6 p.m. Thursday to 1 p.m.
