For many New Yorkers, crossing the street in the middle of the block or against the light is a way of life, part of an attitude that tells everybody, “I’m walkin’ here!”
But with 12 pedestrians deaths so far this year, new Mayor Bill de Blasio is taking aim at that practice.
In some parts of town, police are actually handing out tickets to jaywalkers for a change.
A total of 172 pedestrians were killed in traffic in New York City last year.
Tell the cop you don’t have any ID on you. Then give your nickname as your name.
The new Mayor seems to be doing a great job so far.
Oh, I thought the new plan was to have the cops beat all jaywalkers to a bloody pulp.
JUST ANOTHER SOURCE OF INCOME TO THE CITY
Just when we thought that with Bloomberg gone the tickets and fines would slow down!
More pedestrians are killed while crossing in the cross walks than in the middle of the street. Check it out.
This is a great source of income for the city for a great cause. They should spend more time ticketing jaywalkers and people who run red lights and stop signs.
