VIDEO: MK Lipman Ponders the Merit of Computerized Elections

vot[VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]

MK (Yesh Atid) Rabbi Dov Lipman continues to concern himself with election fraud, telling the Knesset plenum that he remains concerned and perhaps the time has come to point attention to changing over to electronic voting, as technology in 2014 is certainly capable of accommodating such a reality.

Interior Minister Gideon Saar responds to Lipman, explaining he has met with numerous state agency officials, and one of the topics of discussion was cyber security and digital voting, which carries many matters of concern. Saar feels the issue of voting fraud is most serious, addressed by Israel Police.

He states that in the USA voting is relatively simple while in Britain, France and other European countries they are still using the paper ballots and it is more complicated. Saar states a pilot program is already underway and the Central Election Committee is already working on an individual election ID card, which will permit a voter to cast a ballot at any voting station nationwide.

Saar states that the matter of moving to electronic voting is a priority and he is heading in this direction.

Lipman asks if there is a timetable for implementing electronic voting to which Saar explains that a date has not yet been set, and it will not be set until he is sure the benefit will outweigh the possible damage resulting from such a move.

  1. The less comprehensive control, power desperate governments like israel have….

the more the deciding of its fate and its future is decentralized
The safer and better it is

  2. He may have smicha and be a Rabbi, but his position is not just one of a different position. He was machzik y’dei ovrei aveira — an extremely serious aveira.

I think it would be more accurate to say that he is a Rabbi who has willfully and continuously sinned.
