Jordan Seeking to Turn Terror Attack into a Diplomatic Incident


allenbyIn an effort to create a reality that will benefit its diplomatic agenda, Jordanian officials are not apologizing but have gone on the offensive following the terror attack at the Allenby Bridge Crossing on Monday, 8 Adar II 5774. The lone terrorist who tried to grab the weapon of an IDF soldier at the border crossing to Jordan was shot dead. B’chasdei Hashem there were no fatalities or injuries to Israeli forces.

The terrorist was a Jordanian judge and Jordanian officials simply prefer to reject the Israeli report of the events, preferring to accuse IDF soldiers of murdering a justice without cause, acting inappropriately. Jordan on Monday summoned Israeli charge d’affaires in Amman, protesting the shooting of the judge and asked for immediate investigation into the incident.

The Jordan Times reports “A Higher Judicial Council source told The Jordan Times that Raed Zuaiter, a judge at the Amman Court of First Instance, was killed at the Jordan River crossing point on Monday morning. The source, who asked to remain unnamed, said that Zuaiter, 38, was not on leave and was expected at the office as usual Monday.”

The attempted attack is under investigation. It appears the soldier who fired at the terrorist acted appropriately.

A message from the IDF Spokesman reads “A preliminary IDF investigation concluded that a terrorist attacked Israeli soldiers Monday at the Allenby Bridge crossing on Israel’s border with Jordan. The terrorist charged forces with a metal pole while shouting ‘Allah Akbar,’ and then attempted to seize one soldier’s weapon.

“Soldiers responded to the attack in accordance with standard procedures, firing at the terrorist’s lower extremities. The suspect then began to strangle a soldier, and the forces again resorted to using live fire, resulting in the terrorist’s death.”
