Brooklyn Boro President To Host ‘Vision Zero’ Town Hall At Borough Hall

adamsThis evening, at 7:00 PM, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams will host a Vision Zero town hall at Brooklyn Borough Hall. The forum will seek ideas from the community to improve street safety, identify problem locations and hammer out site-specific solutions that match realities on the ground.

To date in 2014, according to data from WNYC, 18 people have been killed in Brooklyn as a result of a fatal traffic accident; this represents 35% of all citywide victims in this period, making Kings County the deadliest borough this year. The most recent was 11-year-old Dylan Perry, who died from injuries sustained in a crash on March 28th.

Borough President Adams is sponsoring the event in conjunction with Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Council Transportation Committee Chair Ydanis Rodriguez, Council Education Committee Chair Daniel Dromm, Council Public Safety Committee Chair Vanessa Gibson, Council Health Committee Chair Corey Johnson, the Brooklyn delegation of the New York City Council and the New York City Department of Transportation.

Also scheduled to be in attendance are Department of Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg and representatives from the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit, New York City Police Department, Taxi and Limousine Commission and Transportation Alternatives.
