Physicians Ordered to Give Sedatives to Hunger Striking Terrorists

prisonIt was a stormy session of the Knesset Interior Committee on Wednesday, 20 Sivan, as they discussed force feeding hunger striking Arab terrorists imprisoned in Israel. MK (Yesh Atid) Yifat Kariv questioned how these prisoners can be force fed while preserving the prisoner’s dignity. Minister of Public Security legal advisor Yoel Hadad explained that may be accomplished by sedating the prisoners.

MK (Ra’am-Ta’al) Dr. Ahmed Tibi was quick to respond, angrily, questioning how one can think of sedating prisoners to feed them against their will. Tibi added the matter of sedating the prisoners was not discussed in the past and therefore, he insisted in adjourning and not moving ahead with a vote. Committee Chairwoman MK (Likud) Miri Regev rejected his request and the session moved ahead as planned.

Kariv was unwilling to accept the reality and sent a letter to Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, accusing the committee of trampling the rights of prisoners, speaking out against the fashion in which the sedation of prisoners was introduced — under the table. She cited that hunger striking is viewed internationally as a non-violent means of protest, citing the late Nelson Mandela of South Africa as an example. Kariv stated such a law, to sedate patients against their will, is not the type of thing that can be debated in committee for a limited period and accepted, calling the decision unconscionable.

  1. What a joke even in Chelem this would not happen, if each one has no connection to others they would never make hunger strikes cause they wouldn’t know what the others are doing, you are making sure they are aware of everything and they are striking, OLOM GOLOM, you are the strike organizers, so go to a chareidi Cheider ask the five year old he will outsmart you anytime.

  2. “questioned how these prisoners can be force fed while preserving the prisoner’s dignity.”

    These chayos have no dignity.

  3. I say let ’em starve! What kind of “dignity” is this lady talking about?? Did they worry about their victims’ dignity?

  4. Why is this even a matter for discussion? They are terrorists. Let them suffer & die slowly & painfully. Them we don’t have to worry about releasing them.

  5. Why not follow the rules as set down by the U.N.?
    No force feeding!
If they die, it’s not our responsibility. In fact, Israel should invite the U.N. to send in monitors so Israel won’t be held responsible.
