Cuomo Says He Will Debate GOP Challenger

cuomGov. Andrew Cuomo says he expects to debate his Republican challenger in the general election.

Cuomo refused to debate his Democratic primary opponent, liberal activist Zephyr Teachout, in the primary season.

He was asked after he voted Tuesday morning in Mount Kisco if he expects to debate Republican nominee Rob Astorino.

Cuomo says he “would think so” but the campaigns have to talk about it.

Cuomo also said he would be satisfied with 51 percent of Tuesday’s vote.

Teachout predicted at a Manhattan appearance that she’d be elected New York’s first female governor and break up “this old boys’ club.”

Cuomo spent most of the primary race publicly ignoring Teachout. His campaign sought to kick her off the ballot by challenging her New York state residency.
