A fire caused by a Menorah seriously damaged a house at 1 Tauber Terrace in the Town of Ramapo on Friday.
The fire was reported at 5:04 PM. The occupants of the house all escaped without injury, and were being provided housing and assistance by their neighbors.
Hillcrest and Monsey fire department were on scene, along with Rockland Paramedics, Rockland Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Orange and Rockland Utilities, and the Rockland County Sherriff’s Department BCI unit.
One firefighter from Hillcrest Fire Department sustained a minor burn to his hand and knee, and he was treated at the scene and refused further medical attention.
The home sustained serious damage and is uninhabitable at this time.

Can we investigate what caused the menora fire so that we can all learn from the accident?
It’s usually flamable items such as curtains too close to the flame or not having a large enought metal tray under the menorah of lichter. These fires are preventable but I heard of one last year and 2 so far this year.
