The Tarpon Springs Police Department has released more information about the officer slain Sunday morning.

Kondek was originally from New York where he served as a New York City Police officer for more than five years.
Kondek responded to a call for service just after 2 a.m. Sunday at 199 Grand Blvd., and was shot in the line of duty, the agency reported.
