Ruling in Rabbi Berland Case Delayed for Two Weeks – Court Accepts New Evidence


berlA Dutch court on Thursday, 9 Shevat was expected to render its verdict in the case of Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlita. The court to date has permitted the rabbi to remain free on bail regarding an Israel Police extradition request.

The court on Thursday announced it was delaying its decision for two weeks. Defense attorney Sharon Nahari explained the rabbi is pleased with the outcome of the hearing as the court was given all the new evidence in the case. The hearing began at 10::30 Israel time and lasted for 90 minutes. The court heard the new evidence given by the rabbi’s attorney, which included statements from witnesses that reportedly compromise the integrity of the prosecution.

Many were at the Kosel on Wednesday night to be mispallel for the rav regarding the hearing held Thursday.
