McConnell Endorses Paul’s Bid for a 2016 Presidential Caucus

randFaced with the task of preserving a GOP Senate majority in 2016, Sen. Mitch McConnell gave his blessing Tuesday for an election calendar that would let fellow Republican Rand Paul run for president and re-election to the Senate at the same time.

McConnell, the Senate majority leader, endorsed Paul’s bid to create a Kentucky presidential caucus in 2016, a move that would allow Paul to run for president and re-election without appearing on the ballot twice in the same election, which is barred by Kentucky law.

“Senator McConnell’s initial reaction to the caucus proposal could best be described as respectful skepticism,” McConnell’s chief of staff Brian McGuire said in a written statement first reported by the Lexington Herald-Leader. “But after a lengthy discussion of the details with Senator Paul he has become convinced that switching from a primary to a caucus is worth his support.”

McGuire noted the caucus would be a one-time event and Paul would raise money to pay for it so it “would do no damage to the state party or interfere with this year’s state races.”

The state party’s central committee is scheduled to vote on the proposal March 7. Paul has already written to committee members asking them to approve the change. Other prominent Republicans supporting the idea include U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie and Republican candidate for governor James Comer.

The caucus would only apply to the primary election. If Paul wins the Republican nomination for president and U.S. Senate, he would likely need a court order to appear on the ballot twice in November’s general election.

There are going to be three main streams this coming primary.
(The hamodia or Yated wrote four, but they’re wrong)

1)GOP establishment:jeb bush probably has that one

2)Tea party libertarian:Rand paul is the leading candidate
    3) Tea party social conservative: a win from this stream would be wonderfully nice, but there are too many candidates all hamstrung with too little money.

So if it comes down to Paul/ Bush
Would anyone making less than ten million $ really prefer another Bush?

The country is surely going vote Clinton over another Bush!

A.Rand Paul of late has been making overtures towards the third stream

B.Rand is far different than his father.
He is also a buddy ($$) with Richie Roberts of lakewood.

Expect the “jewish”money and media(avid Clinton supporters) to start making and spreading alot noise that Paul is anti israel all to derail his candidacy in the primary and ,if he gets there, the general election !

  2. Were Rand Paul to be the Republican nominee for President he would still have to drop out of the running for re-election to the US Senate. That would give the Democrats the opportunity to pick up yet another Senate seat in addition to the many others they will likely flip in 2016.

  3. Doesn’t Paul believe that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons? This probably doesn’t reflect personal anti Semitic beliefs although it may have been influenced by anti Israel libertarians. Otherwise his economic policies are probably the best for America and Israel. Defunding Israel’s enemies are worth more than the 3b they receive especially since America wont be able to control them to the same degree nd Israel will develope their own capabilities and sell them.
