Betar Illit Municipal Workers on Strike Tuesday


beitarOne hundred thirty Municipal workers in Betar Illit walked off the job on Tuesday, Rosh Chodesh Sivan 5775. The striking city workers accuse city officials of ignoring their union and the city is acting unilaterally contrary to the interests of the workers.

City Hall officials’ on Tuesday morning reported that despite the announced strike, most employees are at their jobs and are not taking part in the strike. City officials called on workers not to take part in the political parade orchestrated by workers’ committee leader Pinchas Cohen, who was disgraced and fired. City Hall officials’ explain that Cohen habitually closed in at 04:00 and clocked out at 21:00 but in actuality, he was not at work during those hours.

A son of Mr. Cohen spoke with Kikar Shabbos News, explaining his father never did anything criminal. He praises his father for advancing many projects in the city for the betterment of the city’s youth.
