Christie Faults GOP for Sounding Unwelcoming to Latinos

chrNew Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is faulting his party for taking an unwelcoming tone at times toward minority voters.

In a speech to a Latino Coalition small business conference, the potential Republican presidential contender also boasted about getting 51 percent of the Hispanic vote in his re-election as governor.

Christie portrays himself as the kind of Republican who can attract female, black and Hispanic voters normally drawn to Democrats.

Mitt Romney won just 27 percent of the Latino vote nationally as the 2012 Republican nominee.

Christie says he’ll decide this month whether to run for his party’s nomination.
