VIDEO: One Dead, 3 Seriously injured When Vehicle Goes Airborne Off NJ Turnpike And Lands In Jewish Owned Lot

A single-car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike killed one man and injured three others after a vehicle ran off of the roadway and landed in a parking lot belonging to S. Bertram Foods, Wednesday morning.

At 10:51 a.m., at milepost 97.5, Jonathan A. Donan, 22, of Jersey City, was operating a 2010 Honda Civic southbound in the left lane. The passengers in the car were Christian Donan, 14, Jose Cruz, 18, and Richard Donan, 19, all from Jersey City.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Donan lost control of his vehicle, traveled across the southbound lanes, ran off of the right side of the road, continued across a grass embankment, struck a utility pole and a fence before striking four parked cars located in the parking lot of 3401 Trembley Point Road, Linden, NJ. As a result of the crash, rear passengers Jose Cruz and Richard Donan were ejected from the vehicle.

Jose Cruz and Richard Donan were both airlifted UMDNJ Hospital in Newark. Jose Cruz was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 11:59 a.m. Richard Donan sustained life-threatening injuries is currently in critical condition. Christian Donan sustained moderate injuries and was transported to UMDNJ where he is listed as in stable condition. Jonathan Donan was transported to UMDNJ Hospital and was treated for moderate injuries and released.

This accident is currently under investigation. There are no charges and no further information at this time.
