The Vatican Recognizes Palestine on Pre-June 1967 Borders

popeThe Israel Foreign Ministry released a message that it regrets the decision of the Vatican, which announced last week it recognizes Palestine as a state, one that includes the pre-1967 borders of Israel. The original agreement signed between the Vatican and the PA (Palestinian Authority) in 2013 condemns Israel for delaying negotiations and the establishment of the PA state. The Vatican views Jerusalem serving as the capital of Palestine with the PA (Palestinian Authority) responsible for holy sites.

The Foreign Ministry’s statement included “We also regret the one-sided texts in the agreement which ignore the historic rights of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel and to the places holy to Judaism in Jerusalem. Israel cannot accept the unilateral determinations in the agreement which do not take into account Israel’s essential interests and the special historic status of the Jewish people in Jerusalem.”

The Vatican on erev Shabbos 9 Tammuz signed an agreement with “Palestine”, a next step following the 2013 declaration that it recognizes the PLO as Palestine. Foreign Ministry officials also denounced unilateral steps such as this. The ministry added “Israel cannot accept the unilateral determinations in the agreement which do not take into account Israel’s essential interests and the special historic status of the Jewish people in Jerusalem…Israel will study the agreement in detail, and its implications for future cooperation between Israel and the Vatican.”

  1. Does that mean they are moving their embassy to West Jerusalem – since not doing so suggests they regard the 1949-1967 territory as still being disputed.

  2. It all fits perfectly: Leader of the fake religion recognizes a fake country that does not even exist.
    A Lie + a Lie = a Lie.
And why YWN has to splatter the image of this tumah?

  3. Ok, Israel has now no more obligation to protect the churches interests and buildings in Jerusalem nor do they need to allow masses of pilgrims many of which are missionarys!

  4. Anything new?
The church have been our enemy for 2,000 years.
The arabs have just provided them with a pc opportunity for continued antisemitism.

  5. Every anti semitic canard found in the world whether in the Islamic, xtian or secular world has its roots in the xtian bible. This should come as no surprise to anyone. Chazal knew this when they said halacha, eisav sone es yackov.

  6. 9 Tammuz was a lot more than the burning in France (which was erev par. Chukas) — it is Tzom HoRevi-i for Bayis Rishon, when the city fell after a two-year siege, according to Sefer Yirmiyahu (Sefer Melachim doesn’t detail the month, and Sefer Divrei Hayamim doesn’t go into detail on the matzor; the Yerushalmi holds that that too [for Bayis Rishon, as well as was years later for Bayis Sheni] was on the 17th). IYH soon there won’t be any Tzom Revi-i, Chamishi, Shevi-i

  7. Take it easy guys.
Remember we are still in Galus.

    Tone it down a bit.

IMHO, this Pope (whom influences countless of Catholics) is still the best we Yidden could have hoped for in this day and age.
(I would have wished that this Pope would have been the Holocaust-era pope!)

    And personally I don’t believe he’s an anti-Semite.
    Somewhat misguided and mistaking? Yes.
    But not a Jew-hater.
(And he did after all add the clause concerning Israel’s security.)

Some people let their emotions carry themselves away….

  8. He is a anti Semite. He conveniently left out an apology for the Church involvement in Hitlers work LaST week. All he did was to throw the workd powers under the bus for not doing enough to save the jews R weisma del pleaded with one of the Vatican’s priests to save Jews a was flatly refused.I believe he made this statement last week like this he won’t be called a anti Semite with this action of singing this treaty.what’s new from the Vatican that killed thousands of Jews in the crusade years. Its unfortunately expeected

  9. great!

next time if he comes to israel, israel shouldn’t let him into bethlehem or the kosel or the cahtedral where yoshke ate his last supper, and tell him to go with his palestinian suicide bombers who wouldn’t mind killing him
