Message From New Jersey Office of Emergency Management Regarding Hurricane Joaquin [Wednesday Afternoon]

hA front is passing New Jersey and we will continue to have rainy conditions over the next few days as it moves slowly offshore. Rip current, small craft and gale advisories are posted for today. All eyes are on Hurricane Joaquin, which presently is impacting the Bahamas. The forecast track and intensity for Joaquin is still very uncertain at this time, therefore potential impacts are unknown.

Impacts to New Jersey:

We have an elevated risk of rip currents along the coast, and the week’s rain may result in localized flooding in areas of poor drainage. The forecast track and intensity of Joaquin is uncertain. We will continue to monitor its progress and encourage interests in New Jersey to review storm preparedness plans in the event we see heavy surf, surge, rain and/or winds next week.
