Cabinet Approves Amended Stop And Frisk Law for Israel Police

mishThe cabinet on Sunday 5 Cheshvan approved amending the stop and frisk law that permit policemen to check a person, his pockets and his bag if need be. In the past police had this authority in a case in which the suspect aroused their suspicions regarding a concealed weapon.

In light of the recent increase in Islamic terror, police may now stop and frisk anyone, even if s/he is not believed to be concealing a weapon.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan explains the move was necessary to better enable police to deal with the current wave of terror and restore personal security to citizens.
